The Regional Indigenous Patient Navigator supports navigation of patients and families in the cancer system who identify as First Nations, Inuit or Métis by either clinician or self-referral. This includes:

  • Supporting patients at clinic visits (attends with patient/family)
  • Accessing and provide spiritual and community supports
  • Assistance with applications for financial and transportation services

Ontario Health’s Indigenous Relationship and Cultural Awareness courses have undergone a refresh including updated content and a more interactive look and feel.

  • This free program has been certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada
  • Earn up to 19.5 Mainpro+ credits
  • All courses are self-paced learning modules, allowing you to stop and start at any time
  • Includes 500 years of history in bite-sized chunks of information and provides knowledge about First Nations, Inuit, Métis and Urban Indigenous peoples
  • Providing care that acknowledges, respects and incorporates cultural and language considerations is essential to person-centered care
